Guidelines

We use a 3-strike system to manage behavior. A "strike" is a formal indication that a member has broken our rules. If you receive 3 strikes, you will be removed from the group. Not all violations result in an immediate strike. Some may warrant only a warning on the first occurrence and result in a strike only if the member continues the behavior. Others may lead to immediate removal from the group.

Behavioral strikes are cleared 6 months after the member's last offense. For example, if you've only received 1 strike, it will be cleared after 6 months. If, instead, you receive a strike and then another 3 months later, the 6-month timer restarts from the most recent offense. Strikes given to those who fail to complete their activity check are handled a little differently. A strike for missing an activity check cannot be cleared unless you complete the next one, but if you miss it a second time, you are removed from the group and may not rejoin until 6 months have passed.

To appeal a strike, head over to the "Community" category and #make-a-ticket so that it can be discussed.

Joining

  • You must be 18+ to join. While the group is not NSFW, it is meant to be a community where adults can feel fully comfortable and explore topics that may be more sensitive or graphic than what appears in the books.
  • Discord accounts must be at least 3 months old. Accounts that are younger will be removed. If you've moved accounts, you may message jackal.png on discord with proof.
  • We use the apply to join function that Discord offers, which means you will be asked some questions before you're given permission to enter the server. This includes:
    • Your age. Please provide an exact number.
    • A social media account. Cannot be a blank page.
    • A roleplay example. You aren't judged for your skills, but we do check for signs of AI.
  • You are given 4 weeks to submit a character. If not, you may be removed. Extensions can be requested via jackal.png.

Activity

  • Daybreak is not strict on activity requirement, as it is meant to be an easygoing group for adults to come back to in their free time, with a focus on story and character development. With that being said, those who are around more often and have proven to be reliable do have better chances when it comes to involving their characters in plots and recieving high ranks.
  • We do hold activity checks, which are done every six months. Failure to complete an activity check results in a strike against your account, which can only be cleared by completing the next one. Miss two, and you will removed from the group. Activity checks alternate between sharing a roleplay you've participated in within the last 3 months or updating your characters biographies.

Etiquette

  • Treat others how you'd like to be treated.
  • Conflicts within the server are handeld on a case-by-case basis, and could result in a strike or removal from the server, depending on the context.
  • It should be noted that people who support or promote discrimination or hold onto ideologies that advocates for harm or inequality will never be welcomed here. This includes MAGA supporters.
  • Members must strive to communicate clearly and establish their boundaries.
    • Never say "maybe," if what you want to say is "no."
    • Don’t rely on tone or emojis to express discomfort. Communicate!
  • When a boundary is set, it should be respected. Boundaries are intended to protect personal comfort and wellbeing. They should not be used to try and control other players or restrict normal interactions.

The Basics

  • While perfect grammar is not required, all roleplay responses should be clear, readable, and show effort. Text-speech (such as "thx" or "np") is not allowed. Roleplay responses should be done in third-person. Past- and present- tense writing styles are both accepted.
  • Excessive or unneccesary formatting should be avoided.
  • There is no word limit, but only posts with 100+ words can be used to redeem currency.
  • Members should not talk in their roleplay threads and should instead use the OOC channels.
  • Our group operates on a D&D-based stat system. While not required for regular RP, it is encouraged. When using dice rolls, the result determines how well your character performs a skill, not whether they can bypass logic or characterization. This means that even a nat 20 does not guarantee complete success, your character cannot gain information they would not realistically have.
  • Members may not use AI for their roleplay responses nor biographies.
  • Every 20 days is 1 moon within the RP. When the moon changes, an update will be posted to #rollover. Members are allowed to roleplay 6 moons into the past, but cannot have significant events happen within this time that would've altered the Clan or the world's dynamic.
  • When creating a new roleplay thread, the title should follow this format: [Moon #] Roleplay Title.

IC Behavior

  • Plots are free, but still require proper communication, so open a ticket if there's something you'd like to do. Always remember that your character's actions have consequences. Punishment is either at my discretion (jackal.png) or the Clan leader.
  • This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Predator attacks.
    • Murder or attempted murder.
    • Trespassing.
    • Secretly meeting up with a cat from another affilation.
  • Be a team player. Don't metagame, godplay, or try to enforce a certain narrative or decision over other people's characters, and remember that your character is not omnipotent nor invincible.
  • Characters should be written with their age in mind. Check the age guide to learn more.

Romance

  • Characters may not enter romantic or physical relationships until they are at least 12 moons old. Adolecent-aged cats may have feelings for a cat that is close in age to them.
  • Memebrs may only have one ongoing forbidden relationship at a time. By entering into one, you are surrendering some control you have over your character's fate and future within their Clan if they are ever discovered. Consequences are determined by the Clan leader's owner.
  • Age gaps should remain appropriate.
    • Ages 6-11 moons: Maximum age gap of 2 moons.
    • Ages 12-19 moons: Maximum age gap of 6 moons.
    • Ages 20-29 moons: Maximum age gap of 12 moons.
    • Ages 30-47 moons: Maximum age gap of 24 moons.
    • 48+ moons: When a character reaches 48 moons, there is no limit to how much older a romantic/physical interest can be. At this point, an age difference no longer creates the same imbalance in maturity or power that it might in younger characters.

Don't feel like doing basic math? I've got you covered. Input the characters' ages (in moons) below, and you will know whether or not the age gap would be allowed. Age gaps are based off when the feelings begin to develop. Sometimes, a character might age 1 moon out of this bracket and if the feelings had already been established, there's no requirement to change it.
